ANC is turned on by default. If you want to test the playtime for Normal mode, switch to Normal mode first.
    • What is Space A40's playtime on a single charge/with the charging case?

      1. Confirm the charging case has power left (press the button on the case and see if an LED is illuminated).

When you put the earbuds back into the charging case, the first and third lights on the case will flash to indicate both earbuds are charging normally.
      3. If they still do not turn on, put the earbuds back into the charging case and close the case for 6 seconds, and then open the case again.

Superb mic and sound

Just superb. I have tried the longer versions of these (anker liberty 4NC) and this iteration is by far the best. Excellent sound blocking and sound production and excellent mic. I have tried many wireless ear buds and i prefer these based on comfortable, value, sound quality, sound isolation, and mic.

Hit above their price class

I was looking for a pair of small, everyday earbuds to use while mowing the lawn, sitting at my desk, drowning out some noise while sleeping, and doing other tasks where I didn’t want to use my more expensive earbuds. These have been around for a while but have been in sale for $50-$60. I took the plunge and these earbuds sound and perform more like $150 models. Anker included fine ear tips, there’s a companion app that allows for firmware updates and changing EQ (manual and presets) along with tap controls, and a short USB A to USB C cable. The whole package is bare basics, but there’s nothing wrong with that. The charging case is tiny, smaller than a Roku or Apple TV remote. It supports both USB C and Qi charging. The app won’t term you the case’s battery level. There are three lights on the front for that. The back has a pairing button, which I prefer over using the earbuds themselves. I’m surprised they fit Qi charging in these. The case provides 4 additional charges for a total of 50 hours of listening time. The earbuds themselves are rated at 10 hours, but I’m getting more like 8 with ANC at max.The earbuds support multi-point connection up to two devices at the same time. ANC is good, excellent for the price. I think they’re on par with the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, better than the Galaxy Buds 2. Most low notes and hums are cancelled out. Voices still come through, albeit muffled. These aren’t going to compete with $200+ earbuds from Bose, Sony, or Apple. But they do beat out $150 earbuds from Samsung, JBL, and many others.Sound quality is subjective but, again, it’s great for their price. I think the Bose QC Ultra and AirPods Pro 2 sound better, but I think these are at least on par with what Samsung is doing. That’s great for $50-$60. Microphone quality is ok, nothing special. I’ve heard worse from more expensive earbuds.Tap controls are ok, they work most of the time. These lack wear detection but that’s fine for the price. These would come in at $150+ if they had that feature. You can use either earbud independently.Overall, these are stellar earbuds for their price. Sure, there are earbuds that sound better or have better ANC and more features. But they’re also 4-6X the price of these. Anker released these two years ago and they’re still heavy hitters. I’d even go with these over their more expensive options. They’re small, comfortable, have some quality of life features, and compete with earbuds that are 3-4X more expensive.

A great compromise for air travel and sleeping

I bought these thinking they could replace myB00X9KV0HU Bose QC20 earbudsthat I use for noise cancellation while I’m on planes and as an alternative to my wonderfulSoundcore by Anker, Sleep A10 Bluetooth Sleep Earbudsthat I use when I’m trying to fall asleep. These A40 earbuds not as good at either noise cancellation or sleeping comfort, but it is a good enough compromise that this single set of earbuds is replacing both of these for when I’m traveling. Let’s take a closer look at the specifics…Noise Cancellation: While playing sound, the A40 earbuds get rid of most, but not all, of the outside sound that is blocked by my Bose earbuds. I would say 80% of it. That’s still plenty fine to block engine and small child noises. I also like that I no longer have to struggle with the long cord of a wired headset.Sleeping Comfort: The key to sleeping comfortably is having a small size so I can lay on my side comfortably. The A40 earbuds are small enough that with a sufficiently soft pillow, they go unnoticed. However, the A10 earbuds are even smaller and even more comfortable. The A10 earbuds also provide nice sleep-related features like automatically pausing the audio input when I fall asleep so the audiobook I’m listening to doesn’t run on after I’ve stopped listening. But, that’s a topic for a different review.General Stuff: I’ll say up front that I’ve come to like Soundcore products and these earbuds are no exception. They paired with my iPhone immediately. The sound is outstanding. The app provides some nice capabilities, like being able to run a 3-minute test and then customize the audio equalizer to each ear.Surprising Feature: I’ve always said that I was a sufferer of Hard to Fit Ear (HTFE) syndrome. These things seem to overcome that magically. They stay stuck (comfortably) in my ears for as long as I like.Another Comparison: Comparing these to my AirPod Pros, the fit of the A40 earbuds is more secure, the noise cancellation is MUCH better, and the sound is at least as good. All that said, if you're looking for earbuds to use while you're falling asleep and don't mind spending a bit extra, then consider theSoundcore Sleep A10sinstead. If, however, you're looking for something that does a great job at being an earbud during the day and can still work at night, then the Space A40s are a great choice.

Very concerning issue

I've owned a pair of these earbuds for not more than a year. They were easily my favorite earbuds and I would've rated them 5 stars. However, the case battery is potentially a hazard. The earbuds case began heating up and got so hot that I had to grab an oven mitt and toss it in the sink and ran cold water on it. (Not the best idea). Once it cooled off it immediately began to heat up again and so I proceeded to take the earbuds out of the apartment to prevent a fire and after a bit of time, the case popped in the dumpster behind my building.
So overall, I really loved these earbuds but it's unfortunate that this happened and I am not sure about purchasing another pair or just going with a different brand.
